Situations that justify a temporary system
New lawn installations, both seeding and sodding, require specific watering levels to optimize seed 
germination or root integration with underlying soil. This watering requirement is different than the requirements of an established lawn.
New landscape installations also are specific in their watering needs which is different from an established landscape setting.
The last short term situation that some may want to consider this service for is a vacation or extended business travel. A well established and healthy lawn and yard landscape area can endure a period of being ignored. A lawn undergoing some stress, either due to disease or insect attackmay not. Any extended trip may require that some consideration be given to how the lawn and landscape will weather a period of hot dry midsummer days.

Lawn Repair Simplified
Lawn Repair is now easier and faster.
Residential use of hydroseeding had seldom been used until very recently. Once only the realm of large areas such as highway right of way projects and expanses of new park acreage it has now become possible and cost effective for smaller new lawn installations and even repairs.
The lone solution provider in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin
Bob "The Lawn Guy" Ewald has introduced small area hydroseeding to the Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin region with impressive results. 2011 was the first season for this new service and many have realized that the germination and growth of a hydroseeded lawn in 3 to 10 days and the ability for the hydroseeding application to hinder erosion is a great benefit to new lawn installations, (and looks much better than raw dirt.)
In the beginning of June a large scale repair was performed on a residence that had about 1/2 acre of lawn with about 25% infested with an undesirable species of tall fescue. This infestation was the result of a poor seed blend by another lawn maintenance company and cause the lawn to have a less than acceptable appearance. A three step process was performed to prepare and then reseed the damaged areas with the correct type of grass.
First the infestation was eliminated using a non-selective contact herbicide. Secondly the dead patches on the lawn had the ground prepared using a power rake and finally the seed blend was applied using proper hydroseeding methods.
These methods include using an integrated mulch and tackifier, to help the seed-mulch mix adhere to the soil especially on sloped areas. All of the ingredients are mixed in the sprayer tank with water to create the slurry that is sprayed on the areas requiring repair.
Of course, new lawn installations are also a valuable capability that Ewald technicians are very good at. If your need is a large area seeding give us a call for this as well.

The Hydroseeding Option
Fast, Economical and Earth Friendly
Hydroseeding is the use of a slurry mixture of seed, mulch and water sprayed onto prepared ground to plant a lawn or other soil stabilizing ground cover. Hydroseeding is used as an alternative process to the more traditional broadcast or sowing methods.
Benefits
Using hydroseeding increases germination as well as shortening the germination period. The moisture content and retention is greatly improved and the process makes it possible to include other necessary products within the slurry. Fertilizer for a balance and improved greenup and thickness, special agents for temporary erosion prevention and sometimes a dye is included to offer an immediate appearence of plant growth.
